0.1 - Introduction

Fencers are both magical and physical damage dealers, though most of the elemental skills in the first branch deal magic damage. Fencers are best known for their strong AoEs, and PvP debuffs, but what more is there to know about this class? Lets find out.

NOTE: all code graphs contain number stats out of 10. They are estimations, so use them to get an idea of the strengths and weaknesses.

Overall Fencer Stats:

0.2 - Party or Solo?

Everyone has their own preferences on if they want to party or solo. Both have advantages, and disadvantages. Overall, Fencers can easily get the best of both worlds, though it is best to pick one over the other. In parties, a Fencer usually acts as an AoEr, with massive elemental attack magical AoEs. For solo, Fencers either utilize single target debuff attacks, or use the single target attack speed buff to deal massive physical damage.

1.0 - Party Data

The vast majority of Fencers are party built, but what does this actually mean? By being party built, you suffer in PvP and solo, since you lack strong single target attacks and have a build that ensures massive damage.

Stat builds:

Full Wisdom:
Massive damage, no skill accuracy, somewhat a lame duck when it comes to solo.

Code: Select all

MP Surplus: ..... |||||||||| (10)
Damage Output: .. |||||||||| (10)
Survive Factor: . ||||| (5)

28 Dex, Full Wisdom:
Great damage, good skill accuracy, can solo depending on skill build.

Code: Select all

MP Surplus: ..... |||||||| (8)

Survive Factor: . |||||| (6)
28 Dex, 2 Wisdom 1 Power:
Decent damage, good skill accuracy, can solo with most skill builds.

Code: Select all

MP Surplus: ..... ||||||| (7)
Damage Output: .. |||||||| (8)
Survive Factor: . |||||| (6)
28 Dex, 2 Wisdom 1 Agility:
Decent damage, good skill accuracy, can solo with most skill builds, quantity over quality with decent Agility cooldown.

Code: Select all

MP Surplus: ..... ||||||| (7)
Damage Output: .. |||||||| (8)
Survive Factor: . |||||||| (8)
NOTE: These are cookie cutter builds geared towards people who are not that creative, or adventurous.

An all out build needs massive amounts of MP, and good MP recovery skills. This build involves getting 4-5 of the 5 available AoEs. Level 23+ Highly recommended!

3.0 - Conclusion

Fencer is an amazing job, and when built correctly, can be one of the strongest classes in the game. With AoEs and single target attacks, Fencer can easily fit anyones needs.

This guide should be used as a base that you build apon, don't rely 100% on the recommended stat, skill and sub builds, thats really cookie cut and no fun.

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Please post.

3.1 - FAQ
Are these all the builds for Fencer?
Lets hope not. You can use these for your build, but wheres the fun in that? I'd use this guide as a guideline to build your Fencer.

What can Fencer equip by default?
Fencers can wear Light Armor, equip Swords and beginners items.

Will I be squishy as a full wisdom AoE Fencer?
Yes, if the party asks you to pull, know what you're getting in to and ask for buffs, or provide your own. This won't be much of a problem however until you reach the Grotto.

What should I sub on my Fencer?
Generally you'll need MP recovery skills for magic based builds, healing if you don't have a Nurse Sara and buffs. Lots and lots of buffs. For MP Recovery, Doctor for Inner Magic is the ideal choice above level 33 as you also get healing power. For buffs, Hunter, Blademaster and Witch Doctor are all great for increasing your normal attack damage and overall physical damage. Witch Doctor can also be used on magic classes thanks to Blood Boil.
